    Valley Beater

The Valley Beater (23 L Hollander beater) is an international standard laboratory beating device meeting ISO 5264/1, TAPPI T200, and GB/T 24325-2009. It uses the mechanical action between the rotating flybar roll and stationary bedplate to cut, compress, crush, and fibrillate fibers. Standard capacity is 23 liters with a dry pulp loading of 200-700 g, operating at 500±10 rpm. All key wet-end components—trough, flybar roll, and bedplate—are stainless steel. It features automatic cleaning and programmable timer control, and is widely applicable for beating trials on various fiber types.

Product Introduction
The 23-liter Hollander Beater (Valley beater) is an international standard piece of equipment for paper laboratories and an essential tool for studying pulping and papermaking processes. The machine uses the mechanical force generated between the rotating flybar roll and the stationary bedplate to cut, crush, knead, split, swell, and refine various fiber pulps and recycled fibers, simultaneously causing cell wall displacement and deformation, and rupture of the primary and secondary wall outer layers. By varying the bedplate load and beating time, pulps of different beating degrees can be obtained for studying pulp and sheet properties. It is widely used for beating trials on various plant fibers, synthetic fibers, carbon fibers, and glass fibers, and is indispensable for paper mill quality control, process development, and teaching and research. It meets ISO 5264/1, TAPPI T200, and GB/T 24325-2009 standards.

Key Features
International Standard Compliance: Strictly meets ISO 5264/1, TAPPI T200, and GB/T 24325-2009 laboratory Valley beater method standards, ensuring internationally comparable results.
Stainless Steel Wet End: Key wet-end components including the trough, flybar roll, and bedplate are all stainless steel, durable and corrosion-resistant.
Adjustable Beating Parameters: The load weight can be changed to adjust beating load; beating time is programmable from 1-999 minutes with automatic control to meet varying beating degree requirements.
Automatic Cleaning Function: Equipped with an automatic cleaning port—connecting water or air supply enables automatic cleaning of the flybar roll, bedplate, and trough for more convenient

maintenance.
Patented Soft-Mount Motor: The motor uses a patented spring-loaded soft-mount design for smooth, low-noise operation.
Broad Fiber Adaptability: Suitable for beating trials on various raw materials including plant fibers, synthetic fibers, carbon fibers, and glass fibers.
Removable Anti-Splash Cover: The top anti-splash cover is removable for easy internal cleaning.

FAQ
1. Beating degree not reaching standard
Incorrect stock consistency, excessive flybar-bedplate gap, or insufficient load. Adjust to standard consistency; fine-tune gap; load all standard weights.
2. Abnormal operating noise
Hard foreign object inside, loose blades, or dry bearings. Stop and remove debris; tighten blades; lubricate bearings.
3. Excessive vibration
Machine not level, loose footings, or uneven belt tension. Level machine; tighten anchor screws.
4. Overheating, stock temperature rising too fast
Prolonged beating or gap too small causing excessive friction. Increase gap appropriately; beat in intervals with cooling.
5. Water or stock leaking from trough
Shaft seals or gaskets aged or damaged. Replace seals and waterproof gaskets.
6. Jerky start/stop, weak operation
Slipping aged belt or unstable motor voltage. Tension or replace drive belt; check power supply.
7. Inaccurate or missing revolution count
Sensor probe dusty or misaligned. Clean probe; reposition sensor correctly.
8. Rapid wear of flybar roll and bedplate
Gap chronically too small or stock contains grit. Filter stock to remove impurities; adjust working gap reasonably.
9. Uneven fiber treatment
Insufficient beating time or stock not fully circulating. Extend standard beating duration.

Valley Beater

The Valley beater is one of the oldest standard beating devices used in pulp and paper laboratories, named after its place of invention. It is a low-consistency beating device that simulates the effects of fiber cutting, fibrillation, crushing, and hydration during industrial beating processes through mechanical shear and friction between the fly bar roll and the bedplate. Unlike the PFI beater, the Valley Beater employs a circulating beating method, where the pulp continuously circulates through the gap between the roll and the bedplate within the beater tank, resulting in a relatively gentle beating action that is particularly suitable for the study of long-fiber pulps. This method is standardized under ISO 5264/1, TAPPI T200, and GB/T 24325, and plays an irreplaceable role in papermaking process development, pulp property evaluation, and teaching demonstrations.
