The Short-Span compression tester operates on the short-span compression principle. Under a specified clamping length (30±0.5 mm) and compression distance (0.7±0.05 mm), a compressive load is applied at a constant speed (3±0.1 mm/min) to a specimen with a width of 15±0.1 mm. A high-precision pressure sensor captures real-time force data, and the compression strength CS value (kN/m) is automatically calculated. The pneumatic automatic clamping system with adjustable pressure ensures the specimen is held firmly without slipping. The open testing port design allows simple and quick specimen placement. The touchscreen control system displays real-time force curves with intuitive graphical test results. The compact horizontal structure is suitable for benchtop laboratory placement.

1. What is the difference between short-span compression testing and conventional compression testing?
Short-span compression testing is specifically designed to measure the compressive strength of paper and paperboard under an extremely short span (clamping length of only 30±0.5 mm and compression distance of only 0.7±0.05 mm). It more accurately evaluates the compressive capacity of the paper fiber network in a nearly pure compression state, avoiding the influence of bending or buckling that may occur in long-span compression testing.
2. How should the appropriate measuring range be selected?
Three measuring ranges are available: 100N, 200N, and 500N. 100N is suitable for thin paper and low-strength paper, 200N for ordinary paperboard, and 500N for high-strength paperboard.
